At minimum, you'll need to have an established company with already-existing branding. This doesn't have to be formal; we definitely don't need you to have a fully-baked brand guidelines document. But we will need you to have an overall look and feel for your brand—a visual vibe, if you will—as well as a logo before getting started. We don't offer branding services ourselves, but we'd be happy to point you toward a few top-notch shops if this is still something you need to tackle.
You'll need to make sure you have your content mostly ready-to-go before we start working together. This includes any words and images that we'll need to build your site with. It doesn't need to be perfect—you'll have the ability to tweak and update along the way—but if you're still in the process of writing or gathering imagery, it's best for us to wait before starting work so that we can be as efficient as possible with every project.
We consider our builds to be semi-custom. We start from a hand-picked and highly vetted Shopify theme, using that as a baseline framework for your site, and then customize from there. We adapt colors, fonts, page layouts, site structure, and more to match your individual branding and site needs. No two sites we do look alike, and we're never cookie-cutter.
Our website projects typically run 8-12 weeks, depending on the size of the website and the number of features we're including. This timeline assumes you have all branding and content needed to get started, and are able to commit sufficient time on your end throughout the project.
In addition to the cost to design and develop your site, there are a few other things you'll need to factor into your overall budget:
You will need to secure a domain for your website prior to launching your website. This can be done through a number of domain sellers (we recommend GoDaddy and Google Domains because they have integrated setups with Shopify). We will then connect your Shopify website to your domain at launch. Other than the launch connection, we do not do domain management.
Yes! We want to make sure you are set up for long-term success once we launch your website, and offer monthly web retainers as well as as-needed support.
Shopify is a feature-rich, user-friendly e-commerce platform that we recommend above all competing platforms. It's considered an all-in-one e-commerce solution, meaning that you get native hosting, shopping cart functionality, and a suite of 3rd party services that can easily extend the functionality of your website. This saves valuable time and financial investment.
We love it for its fully customizable framework, intuitive back-end, and robust native functionality. You'll love it for its intuitive CMS that lets you easily manage your store and scale your business without the need for custom development.
No, copywriting is its own unique skillset, so we recommend engaging a talented copywriter prior to starting your work with us for all of your word-smithing needs.
Yes, and no. We do offer photo planning services as part of your website project for an additional charge. We can also help you prepare for a photo shoot by providing photo art direction, photo shoot guidance, and stock photo resourcing.
We do not do actual photo shoots, but we'd be happy to recommend some photography resources depending on where you're located.
We invoice the first 50% of your project fee at the start of work (this portion of your payment is non-refundable to secure your project booking), and the last 50% at launch. If needed, we are often able to adjust the payment schedule to fit your needs.
Accepted payment methods include:
* Credit card payments will incur a 3% service fee
The first 50% of your project fee is non-refundable to secure your booking. We schedule our projects in advance and plan to dedicate our time to your project once we begin, and the non-refundable 50% lets us secure that time for your project in our schedule.
